Individual Graduation Plans (IGP)

The EEDA Law requires that all 8th grade students have an
Individual Graduation Plan (IGP).
Under the leadership of the FMS Global Career Development Facilitator, Mr/Coach Rett Fowler, all 8th grade students have the opportunity to take many career inventories provided by the South Carolina College and Career Planning Systems, such as SCOIS and KUDER, and students will learn how to develop a career portfolio.  This portfolio will include assessments on work values, interests, and skills relevant to each individual student.  Students will learn how to plan for the future using a timeline, exploring careers, and preparing to plan for college.
8th grade students will choose a career cluster of study which is part of their IGP.  Career clusters are courses of study organized around occupational interests.  There are 16 career clusters offered at Dorman High School for students to choose from.
Letters will be mailed home to all 8th grade parents toward the end of first semester and beginning of second semester regarding times to meet and plan the IGP.
